In the Doghouse

Some of the pieces that were in my show, Be it Ever So Humble…, are now at Quilters Quarters in Cottonwood, Arizona. I will be there on November 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 to answer any questions you may have. So, you can see my work, view the Bras for a Cause exhibit, buy fabulous fabric and sign up for a class!! So many things to do in one place.

Amelia Earhart

I went to see Amelia this weekend, starring Hillary Swank and Richard Gere and directed by Mira Nair. It was a two-hour movie, but didn’t seem like it. They told the story in a very interesting way and it’s one of those times where even when you know how it ends, you keep hoping it will turn out differently. Great acting and the clothes in the film were so beautiful – I love the clothing from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Amelia Earhart was an amazing woman.

If Dorothy Had Stayed In Kansas - can be purchased at Vision Gallery

I also took some of my collages to Vision Gallery in Chandler, Arizona. They are such nice people there and downtown Chandler is very cool. My sister and I took our mom to a great Mexican restaurant there last January and we ate outside. How beautiful is that?

How about a tune? Marion Harris, one of my favorite singers, recorded this in 1934. It’s kicky.

Chest of Drawers

Here is my second bra, Chest of Drawers. Many tiny men’s underwear. I’m taking it to Quilter’s Quarters later today. The exhibit officially starts today, but I’ll be making a couple more entries. See box at right for more information on Bras for a Cause.

Zombie and Lefty

Halloween night was fun at our house. We only had 23 trick-or-treaters – they were all small – so I had to eat our cat.

Okay, here’s my first bra entry. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and though it is fast drawing to a close, the bras will be on exhibit through November at Quilters Quarters in Cottonwood, Arizona. The $10.00 entry fee I’ll pay will go toward research for breast cancer (see box at right). I bought the doiles for the bra at Home Sweet Home, a great antique store located at 303 S. Main St., Cottonwood, Arizona. I am working on a couple of others and will post photos as soon as they’re done.

Ozzie Nelson & Harriet Hilliard

Ozzie Nelson & Harriet Hilliard

Drove to Phoenix yesterday, man there’s a lot of people there. I had some shopping to do for the bathroom remodel we’re undergoing right now. It’s a drag, but it’ll be beautiful when it’s done. On the way home I was listening to Ozzie Nelson and his Orchestra. Many of us of a certain age remember The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet on TV and of course Ricky was the musician then, but Ozzie started a jazz band in1930. He was one of the first to get a female singer for his band, Harriet Hilliard. Head Over Heels In Love is a bouncey tune recorded in 1937. Ozzie has a nice voice and the band swings.
